What information Martin's Adventures collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.
This Privacy Policy was last modified on August 26, 2026.
Welcome to Martin's Adventures (“we,” “us,” “our,” or the “Service”), operated by Black Swann Publishing. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
When you join the Adventure Guild, we collect the email address and password you provide to create an account, along with any optional information you choose to add: a Guild nickname, your young explorer's first name, their birth month and day (never the year — we intentionally do not collect a full birthdate), a mailing address (used only to send quest rewards like stickers), and preferred language. We may also collect optional “getting to know you” answers (favorite activity, color, food, type of adventure, how you found Martin) if you choose to share them.
When you submit a completed quest, we store the photo you upload, linked to your Guild account, along with which book and chapter it relates to. If you choose to check the “share this in the book gallery” box, that specific photo (without your name or any identifying information) may be displayed publicly on our Quest Gallery page — this is entirely optional and off by default.
When you sign up to be an ARC (Advance Review Copy) reader, we collect your name, email address, review platform preferences, and any optional information you provide.
When you write to Martin's Mail or Contact us, we collect your name and email address, plus whatever message you send.
We do not require an account or any personal information to read about Martin, browse the site, or use most content.
2. Children's Privacy
Martin's Adventures is a site for readers ages 7–11, designed to be used together with a parent or guardian. Adventure Guild accounts must be created by a parent or guardian, not by a child. The account is tied to the adult's email address. Any information about a child (first name, birth month/day) is provided voluntarily by the parent or guardian creating the account, is optional, and is limited by design — we intentionally never ask for a child's full birthdate, last name, or any other identifying detail beyond what's described above.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information without a parent or guardian's involvement, please contact us and we will remove it.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information you provide to: create and manage your Guild account, deliver quest activities and track your progress, mail physical rewards when you complete quests, send you the emails you've signed up for (book updates, ARC review requests, or responses to your message), and improve the site.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
4. Who We Share Information With
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the site, each of whom only receives the information necessary to perform their function:
- Website hosting
- Delivery of transactional emails
- Tracking and organizing contact inquiries
- Sending subscription newsletters and updates
- Reporting on website and social media usage
We do not share your information with any other third party except when necessary to fulfill your request or as required by law.
5. Security
Passwords are encrypted and never stored in plain text. Quest photos are stored privately and are only made public if you explicitly opt in for a specific submission. Book access passwords (printed in physical books) are also stored encrypted.
6. Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and to remember your language preference. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.
7. Your Rights Over Your Data
You can view and update most of your Guild account information at any time from your Guild Dashboard. To request a full export or deletion of your data, contact us using the information below.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll post the updated version here with a new “last modified” date. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
