Meet the author and illustrator behind Martin's Adventures, and the publisher bringing the series to life.
Loreen Swann, Author & Creator
Loreen Swann is the author and creator of Martin's Adventures, a bilingual children's book series about a young dragon, found as an egg and raised by his human family, who sets out to understand the traditions behind the holidays he celebrates. The series' debut title, Martin's Adventures - 24 Days ’till Christmas: A Dragon's Tale of Holiday Tradition and Origins, marks her first work of fiction.
Before turning to children's books, she owned a photography studio and published several How-To Photography books, giving her experience across writing, editing, and self-publishing long before Martin came along. She currently manages several businesses and properties in Mazatlán, Mexico, work that has sharpened the same organizational instincts now behind Black Swann Publishing. She is a member of the Alliance of Independent Authors and the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
Jorge López, Illustrator
Illustrator and graphic designer with over 20 years of experience developing visual projects for publishing houses, institutions, and brands. Specializing in illustration, infographics, and graphic communication, his career combines creativity, visual thinking, and the ability to transform concepts and information into clear, engaging, and functional pieces. His experience in diverse professional environments has allowed him to develop a versatile vision and adapt to different styles, audiences, and communication needs.
Black Swann Publishing
Black Swann Publishing is an independent children's book imprint founded by author and photographer Loreen Swann. After years self-publishing photography instruction books, she turned to writing fiction with Martin's Adventures, a bilingual series following a curious young dragon discovering the origins of holiday traditions around the world. The imprint's debut title, “Martin's Adventures: 24 Days ’till Christmas, A Dragon's Tale of Holiday Tradition and Origins,” launches the series alongside a companion Guild membership program built around reading, questing, and hands-on exploration.
