For Grown-Ups
A Note to Parents
Martin's Adventures was written to be read together.
Martin's Adventures was written to be read together. Each story follows Martin, a curious young dragon, as he learns where a holiday tradition comes from, then invites your child to try a hands-on quest inspired by what they just read. This page is a quick guide to what to expect.
Reading level and tone
The stories are written for early elementary readers, roughly ages 5 to 10, with vocabulary and sentence length that work well for both independent reading and read-aloud time. The tone stays warm and curious throughout. There is no violence, peril, or scary content, the challenges Martin faces are the everyday kind: patience, honesty, figuring something out, waiting your turn.
What your child will learn
Each chapter is built around one value, drawn from a set of 25 (things like Curiosity, Gratitude, Kindness, and Perseverance), and one learning skill practiced through that day's quest. Rather than stating a moral outright, the stories let Martin live through the situation, so the lesson comes from the story itself.
Bilingual by design
Martin's Adventures is written in both English and Spanish. You can read in whichever language fits your family, or use both side by side as a language learning tool.
The Quest and Guild system
After each story, a short real-world activity, called a quest, invites your child to do something related to what they just read: write a letter, build a puppet, design a decoration. Completing a quest earns a badge. Children who join the Adventure Guild can track their badges and, in some cases, receive physical stickers in the mail.
Screen time
Reading the stories and completing quests are largely offline activities. Where a quest involves technology (sending Martin a poem by QR code, for example), it is optional and adult-supervised by design.
